When I first published my book, I had no platform—I didn’t even clearly understand what a “platform” was. I managed to build a miniature-size list through Facebook ads. As a result, I sold only a few hundred books.
When I wrote that book, I just wanted to help “everyone.”
Soon after, I realized that the people who were reading the book weren’t the customers I ultimately wanted to serve.
I recreated my business goals, revamped my site, and spent a fortune on more Facebook ads--with no results.
Back then, I still didn’t understand that "SMART" goals, a fancy website or more advertising wasn’t what I needed. I needed to tackle the root cause of my problem.
Also, I used to believe that if I offered valuable services, people would eventually find me, so I spent months developing online training and coaching programs that ended up collecting cyber dust.
All because I didn’t understand what was missing.
I was so disappointed that I even thought about quitting my business. Not sure if that has happened to you, but it’s not pretty to get to a low point where you’ve lost hope…
But I knew that if I wanted to make a difference in the world and have the lifestyle I desired, I needed to find a solution, so I immersed myself in the teachings of digital marketing experts.
I attended seminars and invested in programs run by the top players in our industry. I dedicated hours a day to gather and process as much information on the expert industry as I could.
I combined and applied the strategies I learned, and I saw results! My reach grew exponentially--and this time I was reaching the right people! I built a captive audience who is eager to learn about--and buy--my products and services.
This doesn’t mean I didn’t make any mistakes. I made MANY mistakes.
But I learned from them.
And I was careful to document everything I learned.
